We’re selling online!
We have made our first steps into the online retail space!
Our newest Trustee, Caterina Dodaro, has noticed an online trend for ‘slow stitching kits’. You might mistake a slow stitching kit as a craft pack - but you’d be quite wrong! They are the antidote to craft packs!
You will find a mix of beautifully curated fabrics, threads and accessories - but no instructions, and no preconception as to what the kit will be made into. It is for the stitcher to use their imagination and creativity to create just what they would like to create from the materials provided.
Refresh the Marketplace is perfectly placed to contribute to this slow stitching trend, because we have such an array of wonderful and varied stock, all donated by lovely people, meaning that all our sales (online and in person) are sustainable, reducing waste and promoting the circular economy. What’s not to like!
We also sometimes find what we call ‘treasure’ among the donations we receive - items that we know have real value, such as pieces of Laura Ashley fabric. Those are also now being sold online.
We are taking this slowly, and are currently selling on ebay. We have just 8 items up there, and we are learning about taking photographs and presentation! We are considering other platforms too, but one step at a time…
The kits and other materials will be packed (in sustainable packaging of course!) in letterbox boxes, so that delivery is never an issue.
Over time we hope that this will build to bring us in a valuable additional income stream.
